Young Man - Strangers
New single available through myoldkentuckyblog.
I first heard Young Man about a year ago, when a coworker turned me to her son's roomate's music myspace. Now Collin Caulfield is signed to Frenchkiss and has an album already available for purchase. Small world. The Strangers ep drops December 7th.
Mad props to my old coworker's son, (and now good friend of mine) Reilly Cleare for the great cover art.

I once read that "life is merely a matter of coffee and whatever intimacy a cup of coffee
affords." -out of context its a line that has stuck with me, Especially when I find myself in accord with the grand tradition of coffee-seeking young men. Do i really want a cup of coffee? I guess not really, but I would like to make conversation in a mutually comfortable environment and have something to do with my hands so I don't make a complete awkward mess of myself. -sigh
I happen to know of a dusty hole in the wall where a cup of coffee cost a little more than a buck and is served by an aging hippie that could kick my ass. He's usually watching a black and white movie on his computer and the place smells like my room. I like it. Its also pretty close to the New Museum. SO- in short,
Would you like to get a cup of coffee on Saturday?

im drunk.
and last night i had a dream.
i was at the house i grew up in.
and you were there taking a shwoer,
amd I knocked on the door and you opend it.
and i dont remember what i had to tell you, but the entire time i was pretending like you wernt naked. I was trying not to react at all.,
and you stood there. and you didnt react at all.
and we didnt do anbything or react. and that was it.
and then i woke up.;

Maryanne Casasanta's work contemplates the exchange between art and commonplace. By offering a glimpse into the inner life of every day objects, her personal living environment is transformed through an ongoing process of recording and annotating space.
Nothing makes more sense to me than the work of Casasanta right now.

“We’re lookin’ at about an hour and a half,” he says.
The old man knows patience all too well although
Patience’s hand has never been stretched my way,
time enough only for these couple of tires,
enough only to waste my afternoon.
And he knows we cant find conversation
So he chooses his own seat and turns to his Bible.
My seat finds me across the floor
And While he finds a passage and begins to read I watch him
because I don’t understand how he does this
so easily. So intently, you can see it.
I immitate his face, and almost smile. but He'll never know.
I open my book
And catch an old mexican woman's gaze and of course she smiles
And Of course I smile back. Most appropriately,
her daughter sits close, and even more appropriately
they dont say much. The younger is involved
in what ever shit was playing on day time tv, I’m sure it was court tv.
I got up and poured myself some free coffee.
I don’t know why because everything free is sure to be shitty,
But I poured in some free powdered creamer and stirred.
i could feel the old womans eyes again. As i started back for my seat
I thought to offer some to grandpa, but i didnt.
the ol' man had looked up from his bible and was smiling
at the flamboyant judge.
it’s raining thick outside and I so hate the smell of rubber.

So im very excited to start this blog up again and into a new direction. I'm hoping to document more personnally my experiences, artwork, and inspiration, so this blog will function much more as a portfolio.
