I first saw this video at Afrigadget, a website dedicated to African ingenuity. Usually I turn to Afrigadget for art inspiration when working with repurposed materials, although after seeing this post I couldn't help but be inspired as a man of style. Lekuama Ketuafor, a teacher from the southwest region of Cameroon, saw potential within his immediate surroundings. Lekuama took bamboo, an over looked, low cost, renewable resource, and turned it into a beautiful and labor intensive craft. Its amazing what someone can do with a set of simple hand tools, glue, varnish and endless creativity. In addition to heading his own one-man cottage industry, Lekuama is looking damn good doing it, head to toe in his own designs of Bamboo Magic wear.
